What We Do
COABE / ProLiteracy Joint Conference 2010Explore a great city, meet new friends, and share ideas by Coming Together in Chicago! Join fellow adult education professionals and top-notch speakers for the first-ever joint national conference of ProLiteracy and the Commission on Adult Basic Education (COABE). This year's event will be held March 15–19, 2010, at the Hilton Chicago. The official host of Coming Together in Chicago is the Illinois Adult Education Professional Association (IACEA), the voice of adult education. Enjoy professional development opportunities, networking and social events, speaker sessions with top policy officials and industry advocates, important discussion panels, and, of course, time to relax and experience the windy city! You won't want to miss powerful keynote speakers Scott Simon, host of NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday, and Dr. Brenda Dann-Messier, U.S. assistant secretary for vocational and adult education, or the chance to mingle with representatives from prominent national funders such as Dollar General. There is also a first-class line-up of workshop topics, including ABE, advocacy and marketing, correctional education, ESL, family literacy, GED prep, health literacy, professional development, program management, workforce development, and many others. We hope you'll join more than 1,600 expected attendees at this preeminent national conference for adult literacy and basic education practitioners, administrators, and adult learners.
