New Readers Press Publishes Special Barbara Bush Edition of News for You
To honor one of the most dedicated champions and fiercest advocates of literacy in the United States, and the founder of the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, New Readers Press, ProLiteracy's publising division, has published a special edition of News for You.
The special edition contains news articles about the life and work of Barbara Bush, former first lady of the United States. The articles are all written at about a sixth grade level for new adult readers, helping them to build language, reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
The special edition of News for You was presented to Mrs. Bush at the U.S. Conference on Adult Literacy (USCAL) in Houston, Texas, on November 3, 2011, during the Dollar General Literacy Foundation Student Recognition Luncheon, at which Mrs. Bush was the keynote speaker. At the event, Mrs. Bush announced a leadership change with the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, which will now be headed by her children Doro Bush Koch and Jeb Bush.
Now celebrating more than 50 years in publication and circulation, News for You is read by 50,000–60,000 adult learners every week. News for You is also available online with audio and a mobile application for cell phones.
