ProLiteracy Recognizes National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week 2011
ProLiteracy recognizes National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, taking place September 12-18, 2011, and encourages all Americans to contact their Members of Congress to ask them to support the resolutions for this special week.
Representative Jared Polis (D-CO) recently introduced, for the third year in a row, a House resolution designating the week of September 12 as National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week 2011. New rules in the House prohibit votes on such commemorative legislation, but Representative Polis introduced this legislation because this type of recognition is so important to our field and to our work.
A similar bipartisan resolution recognizing the week of September 12 as National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week was introduced in the Senate by Senators Patty Murray (D-WA) and Lamar Alexander (R-TN).
Let Congress know how appreciative we are of their leadership in raising awareness of the critical role adult education and family literacy play in our country and in our economy.
