Social Media Coordinator

In the new role of Social Media Coordinator, you will provide critical tactical and strategic support for the dynamic and growing Marketing team. You will tell brand stories for ProLiteracy and New Readers Press across a variety of channels and strengthen our relationship with our current stakeholders and help attract new ones. You will have a meaningful impact on our mission and brand identity in an exciting, social impact organization.The ideal candidate excels in building relationships, is passionate about social media and the adult literacy cause, is a strong writer with a keen visual eye, and thrives in a team atmosphere.

Responsibilities Include:

Content development

  • Work with marketing to maintain a content calendar that supports primary brand stories and goals and appropriate trends.
  • Leveraging data, identify user generated content and inspiration imagery to be considered for posting.
  • Partner with Programs, Publishing, Development and Marketing team members to create storylines and interesting facts/data/research/surveys for social media, as needed.
  • Place and manage any social media requests with the Marketing team.

Posting

  • Schedule content for Facebook, Instagram feed, Twitter, LinkedIn, and any other current or future social media channels.
  • Post Instagram Stories directly from Instagram app.
  • Draft captions.
  • Keep up to date with current news, pausing content and escalating to leadership where appropriate.

Community Management

  • Respond to all engagement and direct messages within 24 hours on weekdays.
  • Author thoughtful, individualized comments and messages in the brand voice in response to comments on our pages, on images where we are tagged.

Reporting & Strategy

  • Assist in regular content performance and segment reporting and analysis.
  • In partnership with the Marketing team, help develop organic social media testing plan.
  • Be our in-house expert on social platform updates and trends in social media.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve processes, recommending any tools or technology needed and subsequently serving as the primary point-of-contact for the relevant third parties.
  • Ideate new social activations, such as content series, engagement strategies, segmentation, and promotions.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience coordinating social media for brands/organizations preferred
  • Possesses a deep and intuitive understanding of social media
  • Has a keen visual eye
  • Meticulous in proofreading
  • Loves building relationships and community
  • Possesses strong interpersonal, written communication, and organization skills
  • Self-motivated and performance-driven
  • Able to work in both strategic and hands-on, detail-oriented capacities
  • Creative and eager to constantly challenge our approach
  • Possesses a great sense of humor, endless curiosity, and an excitement to help develop and support the brand and our mission as an integral member of the team
  • Familiarity with social media management and visual curation tools is a plus
  • Proficiency in Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Analytics, Microsoft Excel, and relevant video/motion graphics applications is a plus.
  • Understanding of fundamental business concepts, marketing metrics, and web tracking principles is a plus.
