Exactly 35 years ago today, the television movie special The Pride of Jesse Hallam, starring Johnny Cash, aired on CBS. Cash played the role of Jesse Hallam, a low-literate adult who learns to read using the Laubach method. The movie made use of New Readers Press educational materials, and ProLiteracy staff and volunteers from Laubach Literacy in Cincinnati, Ohio, provided information related to adult literacy and adult basic education.
