We are excited to announce that Margo Hudson, a Seeds of Literacy graduate and tutor, will lead the Pledge of Allegiance at the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Wednesday, July 20.
Seeds of Literacy, a ProLiteracy member organization, praised Hudson’s hard work, saying “We are so proud of Margo—for her diligent work as a Seeds student for 11 years, her persistence in taking the GED test six times before passing, her twice weekly tutoring at Seeds, and her tireless advocacy for the organization and the power of adult literacy!”
“I would like to thank Seeds of Literacy in Cleveland, Ohio, for opening up their doors and for educating people like myself and others to earn their GED and feel proud of themselves,” Hudson said. “I’m very grateful for that organization. I always wanted that education so I could have better job choices and feel better about myself and have a better quality of life. Now that I have my GED, the sky’s limitless as to what I can do.”
This is just the latest in much-deserved accolades received by Hudson for being a dedicated advocate for adult literacy. She was also awarded the Courage Award from Ohio Governor John Kasich as part of his State of the State address on April 6. “Her courage in the face of so many challenges is inspiring,” Kasich said.
