To make these existing efforts even stronger, we increase the capacity and quality of adult literacy programs through technical assistance,
professional development, training, and content development.

Literacy Through Libraries
ProLiteracy and the American Library Association Office of Adult Literacy, Diversity and Outreach Services have partnered to help libraries implement processes for institutionalizing adult literacy initiatives.
National Book Fund
The National Book Fund
provides grants for educational materials to adult literacy and adult basic education programs to help teach adults to read.
Mobile Learning Fund
The Mobile Learning Fund
provides adult literacy programs and their students with digital education materials to help teach adults to read.
Women and Financial Literacy
ProLiteracy, with support from American Express, has developed a financial literacy education project aimed at assisting low-literate women with money management skills.
Workforce Curriculum for Immigrants
This project helps low-income immigrants with limited English skills develop literacy competencies while they learn personal and business financial skills within the context of starting and operating small enterprises.

Connecting potential students and volunteers with programs immediately ignites the learning process and is the first step toward student achievement.
