Adult Education and Family Literacy Week Toolkit


September is a big month for literacy that includes  Adult Education and Family Literacy Week (AEFL Week) and International Literacy Day. This year, AEFL Week is September 18–24, 2022. International Literacy Day will be celebrated on September 8.

To help you celebrate these events and increase awareness of the adult literacy issue, we’ve put together a toolkit. The free download includes information about AEFL Week and International Literacy Day, adult education facts, suggested activities, sample letters, social media templates, and more.

AEFL Week Artwork and Fact Sheet

ProLiteracy and National Coalition for Literacy have developed a fact sheet and a logo to help programs and individuals participate in the promotion of adult education and family literacy.

  • The Fact Sheet is a .pdf and can be printed or shared online to provide valuable insight able the facts, the need, and the benefits related to adult education and family literacy.
  • The AEFL Week logo can be added to your websites, social media posts, marketing materials, and more. 


Social Media Images and Videos

You are welcome to share the following social media images on Twitter or Facebook during AEFL Week.
  • For the animations, you can right click and select "Save Image As" to save the animated .gifs, or click the link below to go to the video file which you can also save and share. 
  • To share the Youtube videos, click the three dots in the top right corner, and then click share.
  • You can also create your own social media images with tools like Canva or Adobe Spark.
