Working Together to Build a More Literate Society

Our partners play an invaluable role in the success of ProLiteracy—and, ultimately, the success of the educators, advocates and learners we serve. With their generous financial and organizational support, we’ve been able to launch new adult literacy solutions, sustain and grow our existing programs, and advocate for adult literacy initiatives on a local, national, and global level.

Romance Writers of America is the recipient of the 2017 ProLiteracy President’s Award

There are 36 million adults in the United States who lack basic education and literacy skills. For adult students, literacy is the key to higher learning and a window to the world. Over the years, Romance Writers of America (RWA), donations to ProLiteracy have helped break the cycle of poverty, elevate workforce skills, and improve the quality of life for adults worldwide. ProLiteracy is thankful to the authors, readers, publishers, and literacy partners who have supported us, and helped RWA to improve so many lives through literacy. We are happy to recognize this long partnership by awarding RWA the ProLiteracy President’s Award this year for their service and dedication to adult literacy.

RWA hosts an annual book-signing event, Readers for Life Literacy Autographing, in support of adult literacy. The total donations to ProLiteracy and local literacy programs since 1990 is over $1 million.
