ProLiteracy Partners with Career Opportunity Platform Guild to Support Working Adult Learners

June 7, 2023

ProLiteracy, the largest adult literacy and basic education organization in the nation, today announced a new partnership between its publishing division New Readers Press and Guild, the leader in opportunity creation for America’s workforce.

Through this new partnership, employees at innovative employers including Chipotle, Pitney Bowes, Target, and Tyson Foods will now have employer-funded access to the New Readers Press High School Equivalency Preparation distance learning program, providing working adult learners across the country a path toward earning a high school equivalency degree, opening the door to career advancement and higher education.

“Through this partnership, we can provide frontline workers with a path to high school equivalency that will lead to promotions and additional education to meet their career and life goals.”

Through Guild, forward-thinking companies can invest in their employees, unlocking opportunities for personal and professional growth via education and learning program, career development, and one-on-one coaching.

“We are honored to have been chosen to work alongside Guild and these innovative companies,” said Mark Vineis, President and CEO of ProLIteracy. “Through this partnership, we can provide frontline workers with a path to high school equivalency that will lead to promotions and additional education to meet their career and life goals.

ProLiteracy has a long history of developing leading-edge resources to help adults achieve their educational goals to transform their lives. Adults who earn a high school equivalency degree increase their employability and earning potential, leading to upward economic mobility and a positive effect on their families and communities for generations to come.

“We are thrilled to work alongside ProLiteracy in service of our nation’s working adult learners,” said Marty Martinez, Chief Partnerships Officer at Guild. “The addition of ProLiteracy to Guild’s Learning Marketplace means that learners across the country will have the opportunity to pursue critical foundational learning through high school completion thanks to the support of their employer. We look forward to seeing the ways that accomplishing this often long-held goal can act as a springboard for upward mobility.”

“We look forward to welcoming working adult learners from across the nation and supporting them in reaching their educational goals,” said Sonja Chernos, Vice President of New Readers Press publishing for ProLIteracy.

Current employees at U.S. based companies whose employer offers education programs are encouraged to contact their HR representatives to see if Guild and ProLiteracy could be an option for them.
