Digital Literacy

As technology continues to advance, adult learners often get left behind. Literacy programs must have access to the tools and technology to help adult learners also advance. ProLiteracy and our publishing division, New Readers Press, (hyperlink the title) are working on initiatives to make digital content available for teachers, students and programs.

  • Worldreader:
ProLiteracy is partnering with Worldreader, an international organization focused on improving adult and children’s education by providing access to reading materials through mobile phones and tablets. ProLiteracy piloted a program in Kenya using e-readers in a traditional adult literacy program. We contributed instructional content from New Readers Press to help learners worldwide increase their reading skills.

  • Leamos
Leamos™ (“let’s read”) is a web-based Spanish literacy program designed for adults with less than two years of formal education. Leamos has helped more than 4,000 adults learn basic Spanish literacy so they can confidently pursue other educational goals, including learning English and passing the citizenship exam.
