These four courses support Citizenship: Passing the Test, a three book series published by New Readers Press. The resources we have in our Citizenship Collection, will help you design and deliver citizenship services that prepare students to pass the citizenship test and become new U.S. citizens.

Citizenship: An Overview of the Citizenship Test – Each person who comes to the US seeking citizenship must pass a Citizenship Test. This course provides an overview of the Citizenship Test, including the three components of the test and what each component tests.

Citizenship: The Civics Test – Teachers can get the content students need to pass the civics portion of the citizenship test from almost anywhere. The challenge is how to teach the content effectively. This course provides you with instructional principles and activities you can use in the classroom to prepare students to pass the test.

Citizenship: The Literacy Test – To become a citizen, an applicant must also demonstrate basic proficiency in reading and writing English. This course provides you with instructional principles and activities you can use to help students develop the English language proficiency they need to pass the test.

Citizenship: The Interview – To become a U.S. citizen, a person must go through an interview with a USCIS examiner. Students may fear that any mistake they make during the interview process will prevent them from becoming citizens. This course will help teachers prepare students for the interview so they will feel confident and improve their likelihood of success.
