ProLiteracy asks its member network and New Readers Press customers to participate each year in our Annual Survey. Their responses on topics from student demographics and instructional practices to funding sources and volunteer hours are compiled and published in the Annual Statistical Report.
The report provides a vital snapshot of national averages in the adult literacy field and highlights the current needs for increased support and funding.
The 2025 report shows:
- The value of volunteers’ time given to adult education and literacy programs equates to $112,058 annually.
- Widespread adoption of technology and digital tools is helping programs expand their services.
The data also underscore ongoing challenges and opportunities—such as addressing the high number of students on waiting lists—that will shape our work in the year ahead.
