Report Shows Virtual Instruction Important to Overcoming Barriers
The 2024 Annual Statistical Report provides critical information about the current state of adult education across the country.
ProLiteracy asks its member network and New Readers Press customers to participate each year in our Annual Survey. Their responses on topics from student demographics and instructional practices to funding sources and volunteer hours are compiled and published in the Annual Statistical Report.
The report provides a vital snapshot of national averages in the adult literacy field and highlights the current needs for increased support and funding.
Of note in the 2024 Annual Statistical Report:
- 63% of programs have students on a wait list for program services
- 89% of programs using virtual instruction said it helped students overcome learning barriers
- 43% of programs rely on just one or two funding sources
- 52% of program funding comes from state and federal government
- On average, the value of volunteer work given to an individual program was $118,669
